a group project meeting

From back then
Did we become who we promised?

You made a whole meeting about the fort.

That's what it looks like. Five people on the screen, and you have a plan for who builds which wall, and a paper where everybody's job is written down. When me and Danny built a fort we just yelled BLANKETS and grabbed the couch cushions and it happened. Nobody wrote a paper. Nobody said "let's circle back."

But look, you did get the crew together. That part is right. You always wanted a crew. You said you were going to have a whole gang and you would all make something huge, bigger than anybody could make alone.

Why is your face like that though. You keep making the small smile, the one that isn't really a smile, when the tall man talks and talks and doesn't let anybody else go. Say something to him. You would've said something. You once told a lifeguard he was doing the whistle wrong.

And you turned your camera off. Where did you go. Are you drawing under the desk? Please be drawing under the desk.

Okay here is the good part. At the very end everybody said their piece and one person made a joke and you all laughed for real, and for one second it did feel like a fort. Like something you built together that keeps the rain out.

You still like making things with a crew. I knew you would.

Can we do the yelling-BLANKETS kind next time too?
