It has a spot. The spot smells like a hundred humans and I want to know all of them! I want to know the man who ate the salty crunchy thing here and dropped some, YES, I found it, best find, best crumb. I want to know the lady who cried here, her smell is under the wood, but that was a long time ago, maybe a whole hour, so it's fine now, everything is fine now!
My human sits. My human SITS! Not walking! This is the best part of the walk, the sitting part, because now my human's hand is down at my level, and the hand touches my head, and the hand is the best hand. I put my chin on the leg. I look up. My human is looking far away at the water and the ducks and I do not know why, the ducks are not doing anything, but if my human likes the ducks then I like the ducks too. I love the ducks now.
Under the bench there is a whole world. A stick! THE stick. Someone left it. For me? For me. I bring it up. I put it on the bench next to my human like a gift because it is a gift.
The leash goes slack. Nobody is going anywhere. My human is happy, I can smell that it's happy, it smells warm and slow and here.
We could stay forever. We are staying forever!
And then, best thing, best thing of all, my human reaches in the pocket and the pocket makes the crinkle sound.
